Ready, Steady, Cook!

I admit - I love me my cooking shows. So much so, I started baking and cooking with my son as sous chef since he was 18 months old. It's been alot of fun and incredibly messy - but I do get a kick out of knowing he's learning a life skill that will put him in good stead....not to mention put dinner on our table when mummy and daddy are too tired to do it ourselves!

Here are a few schools that could provide a fun activity and develop new skills for your little kiddos this holiday and beyond. Serve it up, Top Chefs!

  • Little Spoons in Rozelle - Starting from the age of two, they provide classes which include pasta making, cupcake decorating and high tea. How very civilised! www.littlespoons.com.au

  • Greekalicious in Bondi Junction -Talk about a delicious name to start with! Imagine your kids whipping up lamb souvlaki or baklava at your next family getogether. Children from ages four to 15 get to learn how to make simplified yet exotic Greek dishes all year long. www.greekalicious.com.au
  • Make Bread in Melbourne - Can it get simpler or more beautiful than that? Learn to bake a variety of breads at private family classes or kids parties from the age of three in your home or preferred venue. www.makebread.com.au
  • Gourmet Kids in Melbourne- Book a cooking party for your next birthday celebration at yours or bring the little one to a cooking lesson at their venue. They also have a shop that sells young chef kits to help them continue practicing at home. For kids aged two to 15. www.gourmetkids.com.au

This article as inspired the cook in me - so, time to get my kitchen counter terribly messy with my 2 year old before his next class. Heaven help the cleaner...oh wait, that's me. Drats...foiled again! ;)
